Deer Stalking, Ardlussa Estate, Isle of Jura, Scotland, Britain - 09 Oct 2010
For the past 25 years the Brauckmann family have made an annual visit from Germany to stalk deer during the rut on the Ardlussa Estate. The rut is a period in Autumn when the biggest and strongest stags round up a group of hinds for mating. The stag announces his superiority over the other males by constantly bellowing out a roar to other contenders. Jura which is the old norse word for deer has around 5,500 living in the island.
