The Royal Family (theroyalfamily / 10.07.2019): The Queen's Medal for Music has been awarded to jazz musician Gary Crosby OBE. Today The Queen presented the award to Mr. Crosby at Buckingham Palace. Gary Crosby OBE is a British jazz double bassist, composer, and co-founder and Artistic Director of @Tom_Warriors, a jazz education group which nurtures and develops young musicians. The Queen's Medal for Music, established in 2005, is presented annually to an outstanding individual or group of musicians who have had a major influence on the musical life of the nation. On receiving the award, Mr Crosby said: Im honoured to receive The Queens Medal for Music, and humbled to join such a distinguished group of Medal recipients. As a founder of Tomorrows Warriors, Im also delighted to be recognised for my work as an educator and mentor to the many young jazz musicians weve worked with over the years.
