Eddie Van Halen poses with his rare Gibson Mando-Bass on the cover of Guitar Aficionado magazine . The Van Halen legend showed off his collection of rare guitars for the mag - and happily talks about how he has "destroyed" numerous valuable instruments. "I really don't care what something looks like - I'm more concerned with a guitar's functionality, sound, and playability," he says to justify the wild changes he has made to numerous vintage models. He calls the Gibson Mando-Bass from the 1910s that he poses with on the cover "insane and beautiful" that "blew my mind". "I've never seen anything like it, and I've yet to see another one," he said.
