Albert Uderzo (C), French author and illustrator who launched the Asterix comics strip character with author Rene Goscinny, sits next to his wife Ada (R) and Goscinny's daughter Anne Goscinny (L), on October 15, 2009, at the University Paris XIII in Bobigny, Paris suburb. Uderzo received today a honorary doctorate degree for his lifetime work, to mark the 50th anniversary of the character's first appearance in 1959.
