John Lennon gave the tooth to his housekeeper Dorothy (Dot) Jarlett during her employment as housekeeper at his Kenwood home in Weybridge, Surrey between 1964 and 1968. He had given her the tooth after returning from the dentist having had it removed. They were both in the kitchen chatting when John handed Dot the tooth and suggested that she give it to her daughter as a 'souvenir' as he knew that she was a huge fan. Karen Fairweather, from Omega Auctions, said: "It is a truly unique piece of memorabilia and it is really difficult to put a value on it. "We are expecting it to achieve at least GBP 10,000 but it is not unknown for items as rare as this to reach six figures." During Dot's time working for John a warm relationship developed between The Beatle and her family. John referred to her as 'Aunty Dot' and even named his dog Bernard after Dot's husband. John gave many gifts to Dot and her family over the years, some of which have previously been sold by the family through Sotheby's and other auction houses. The tooth, being such a rare item has been kept in the family until now and comes with a sworn legal affidavit by Dot Jarlett attesting to the authenticity of the item. UK based Omega Auctions will hold the music memorabilia and vinyl sale auction at Meadow Mill, Stockport where potential bidders are invited view the tooth on the day before the sale or on the morning of the auction.
