Rising demand for fast fashion, much of it made from polyester is driving a surge in textile waste shipped to Global South countries like Kenya as second-hand clothing. Much of it is difficult to recycle and ends up polluting the environment, environmentalists now calling for stronger controls on transboundary movement.
