This is Sarah a resident manatee at SeaWorld who is close to 3000 lbs, in Florida. She was rescued in the 80’s and could not be reintroduced due to the laws at the time However her role at the park is essential as she acts as a surrogate mother to orphaned manatees that come in for critical care and this vital for helping them learn normal manatee behavior and acclimate to their new surroundings at the park. By 2023 SeaWorld will be able to provide critical care for 60+ manatees, the largest capacity in Florida and in the U.S.
