Manatee being fed at Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park essentially the clippings are enclosed in this manatee buffet as they call it, in Florida. The park currently has four rehabilitating manatees two of which are permanent because they were rescued as young juveniles and never acquired the life skills they needed to survive in the wild. A solution has been created to supply thousands of pounds of seagrass to feed the manatees being cared for and rehabilitated at the Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park. The initiative “Seagrass Saves Sea Life” by Sea & Shoreline will collect the seagrass from the Crystal River project and transport it to the state park weekly to feed captive manatees in the park’s care.
