Situated on Tampa Bay, Big Bend Power Station is located on Big Bend Road on nearly 1,500 acres in southeastern Hillsborough County, close to Apollo Beach, in Florida. The power stations also hold The Manatee Viewing Center, which aids and assists in the release of rehabilitated manatees. This particular release is from Zoo Tampa but in attendance was FWC as well as tourists. We are seeing a tracking device around the tail. This is monitored by Clearwater Marine Aquarium, another key player in the web survival these trackers are important for earlier monitoring of released manatees and longterm data like migration patterns these trackers are designed to rust and fall off over time. The manatee being released is called Burrkey whose only identifying scar is the freeze branded number 51.
