The Police Performing Their Last Ever Concert, Madison Square Garden, New York, America - 08 Aug 2008
The Police have rounded off their reunion tour by playing what was billed as their last ever show. The concert took place at Madison Square Gardens in New York - the city where the band kicked off their very first American tour back in 1978. The charity concert wrapped up their massive 15 month tour and was held to benefit the production of arts programming for two New York public television stations and NY Mayor Michael Bloomberg's MillionTreesNYC program, which is an initiative designed to plant one million trees in New York City 's five boroughs by 2017. Bassist and singer Sting, guitarist Andy Summers and drummer Stewart Copeland originally broke up in 1984 but reformed last year before heading off on their reunion tour.
