6’2” model who said it's 'impossible' to date as tall woman finds love with shorter man
A 6’2” model who said dating is “impossible” for taller women has finally found love – with a shorter man.
Over the years, Marie Temara has faced a host of struggles thanks to her height; from meeting a partner to proving that she can still be feminine.
She previously hit the headlines for sharing her struggle with dating in particular, with just 2% of the population in her native Florida being taller than 6’3.
But the 28-year-old has now entered into a new relationship with her boyfriend, Matthew, 27, who is 5’11”.
Taking to Instagram (@marietemara), to share the news, her video has over 9.6m views.
“For the majority of my dating life, I would always try to find a partner that was taller than me, as that is the social norm,” Marie, a model and content creator from Palm Beach, told What's The Jam.
“However, finding a partner over 6’2 was extremely difficult, because only a small amount of men are taller than that.
“So, I recently decided to break the standards of society and started seeking out shorter men.”
This is when Marie met Matthew, with the pair matching on Tinder.
She said: “I was unaware of his height until I saw him on our first date.
“Although he is tall to most people, he is quite a bit shorter and weighs 70lbs less than me.
“Originally, I felt a little insecure dating him because I was worried about what other people would think of our massive height and size difference.
“It is also very different dating someone shorter and smaller than me, because I can’t fit in his sweatshirts when I get cold, wear heels without towering over him, and he is not strong enough to lift me up, so I’m the one who lifts him up.
“But, I have learned to stop caring about what other people think and embrace our unconventional relationship.”
