Workers hang colourful plaited reeds out to dry on a bamboo structure so they are ready to be weaved into everyday items. The technique of this craft was photographed by Kosit Thirajarung in Sakonnakon, Thailand. The 38 year old said, “Reeds are used alongside stripes of palm leaves and other easily available local plants to weave colourful items like sitting mats, placemats, decorative wall hangings and shopping bags.” “This traditional craft is passed down from generation to generation in Thailand. The reeds are cut into thin strips, dried once before being dyed and dried once more. They are then weaved into shape and dried again to hold their colour and shape.” Please byline: Kosit Thirajarung/Solent News © Kosit Thirajarung/Solent News & Photo Agency UK +44 (0) 2380 458800 *** Local Caption *** - Where did you take these photos?
