Swimming by. THIS INCREDIBLE footage shows an 11-foot tiger shark twirling as a feeder spins it before the heart stopping moment the shark looked like it was taking a bite from the camera.
One image shows the feeder rolling the tiger shark, Kim performing an intricate and playful feeding dance before she takes umbrage at being filmed and gave what the photographer described as a, “love tap”.
Kim the female tiger shark is identified by a dotted mustache on her nose and a three inch split on her caudal fin. She likes to play and role whilst she is being fed.
These images were captured by divemaster and photographer Amanda Williams (39) at Tiger Beach off the Grand Bahama island, using a Canon G7X Mark 3 camera.
“This was our dusk dive on a week-long trip to “Fish Tales”, more often called Tiger Beach,” said Amanda.
“Kim had come into the crate to feed, the feeder was able to “roll” her by stimulating the ampullae of lorenzini under the tiger's nose.
“ After the roll, the tiger was probably attracted to my camera by the electromagnetic field my camera was emitting and came to investigate using the ampullae of lorenzini under her nose to investigate.
“Kim kept her teeth retracted the entire time while investigating my dome lens and camera and gave it a love tap.
“I love dispelling false ideas such as sharks are man-eaters. These animals are just trying to be sharks, doing what is instinctual to them- eat, migrate, reproduce and stay alive from other predators. If Kim had any intentions of causing me any harm, she wouldn’t have kept her teeth retracted.
“Instead she made a gentle investigation with the only means she had to investigate further, besides sight, and that’s using her receptors, aka ampullae lorenzini, under her nose.” mediadrumimages/AmandaWilliams
