The sculpture on this island include the only representations of true dinosaurs seen at Crystal Palace. Scientists have classified Hylaeosaurus, Iguanodon and Megalosaurus, while the other animals on this site belong to other scientific groups.
IGUANODON: One of these Iguanodon models sprawls like an iguana on the trunk of a cycad, a tropical plant whose fossils have been found near Iguanodon remains.
The other stands on four straight legs like an elephant. In fact these dinosaurs stood on their hind legs and used their long tails to help them stay balanced.
MEGALOSAURUS: This colossal reptile roamed Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire about 166 million years ago. Its reconstruction stands in front of a fossilised that dates from the same period. Megalosaurus (meaning ‘giant lizard’) was the firs dinosaur to be described in a scientific way.

Les sculptures de cette Óle comprennent les seules représentations de vrais dinosaures vues au Crystal Palace. Les scientifiques ont classé Hylaeosaurus, Iguanodon et Megalosaurus, tandis que les autres animaux de ce site appartiennent à d'autres groupes scientifiques.
IGUANODON: Une des sculpture d'Iguanodon s'étend comme un iguane sur le tronc d'une cycade, une plante tropicale dont les fossiles ont été trouvés près des restes de l'Iguanodon.
L'autre se tient sur quatre pattes droites comme un éléphant. En fait, ces dinosaures se tenaient sur leurs pattes arrière et utilisaient leur longue queue pour rester en équilibre.
MEGALOSAURUS: Ce reptile colossal parcourait l'Oxfordshire et le Gloucestershire il y a environ 166 millions d'années. Sa reconstitution se trouve face à un fossile qui date de la mń™me période. Le mégalosaure (qui signifie "lézard géant") est le premier dinosaure à avoir été décrit de manière scientifique.
