Her Majesty travelled in the First Class carriage of the train from King's Lynn in Norfolk to King's Cross in London. The 92-year-old, who was dressed in a grey and white striped winter coat and black gloves, caught the 10.44am train. The Duke of Edinburgh did not accompany her on the Great Northern Thameslink train, for which her ticket is believed to have cost L39.60. The Queen usually returns to Buckingham Palace every year after Accession Day on February 6, the anniversary of her taking the throne on the death of her father. It is not known why she left the Sandringham estate five days later this year.
