Pictures of a holidaying Daschund and a rescued seal pup have gone viral after being posted online. The pictures show Daschund Stanley and seal pup Aayla, a permanent resident at the Cornish Sea Life Trust Seal Sanctuary, during a somewhat affectionate encounter with each other. It seems that as soon as Stanley entered the underwater viewing area, he was immediately drawn to Aayla, who in turn seemed equally as excited by her four-legged visitor! In fact, the two spent around 20 minutes flirting with each other. ??sAayla is often found by the underwater viewing area, she absolutely loves interacting with people and dogs,??? explained Georgina Shannon of the Sea Life Trust Cornish Seal Sanctuary. ??sWe are often sent photos from our guests who have captured Aayla interacting with their dogs, so this isn???t the first time she has made friends with a dog, although she seemed to really love Stanley! ??sIt is likely that Aayla mistook Stanley for another seal as the dachshund was wearing a doggy jacket and a snoot with his ears tucked up inside as it was cold; she began mimicking certain behaviours like waving at the doggo and tilting her head like most dogs do. ??sI think she was absolutely fascinated by him!??? Aayla was rescued from Bacton, Norfolk, in January 2017 ??" she was extremely malnourished and had a nasty infection to her right flipper. As a result, Aalya was rehomed at the sanctuary in 2018. Talbot, the dachshund???s owner, explained that it felt like they were ??sfriends at first sight.??? Melanie also pointed out that someone told her dachshunds tend to sleep with their legs tucked in, making them look like seals, which could explain why these two pups of a different species, felt right at home with each other!
