The "Downton Abbey" cast were out in force today in the Oxfordshire town of Bampton which doubles as the fictional village of Downton. Filming season 5 of the popular award winning costume drama is almost at a close and the scene for today's shooting was the dedication of the War Memorial to commemorate those who lost their lives in the 1914 - 1918 war. Words were spoken in honour of the fallen by the Earl of Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) and Mr Carson (Jim Carter), the last post was played and most of the services were present and in uniform with several members of the household wearing their medals. All the family members were present including the grandchildren who made a rare appearance on set. Pictured: Dame Maggie Smith (Violet Crawley, Dowager Countess of Grantham)
