A squirrel had to be rescued after getting its head stuck in a manhole cover. Firefighters in Dortmund, Germany, found the animal???s head poking out of a small hole on Thursday (20 June). The entire manhole cover had to be removed and the squirrel was taken to a nearby veterinary clinic. Police had to guard the open sewer. Vets used anaesthetic to calm the squirrel before being able to free it. According to the fire department, the squirrel sustained 'minor injuries' on its neck and will remain in the veterinary office to receive further treatment.
