Squabbling puffins, FARNE ISLANDS, NORTHUMBERLAND, ENGLAND, ACTION-PACKED IMAGES of two puffins having a full-on-fight have been captured. Images show the two puffins in an intense disagreement leading to a very animated physical encounter at the Farne Islands. However further pictures show the plucky pair thought better of their differences ending the brawl by hugging it out. The Farne Islands are home to around 70,000 puffins, particularly during breeding season. Known as the parrots of the sea as a result of their coloured beaks they can be found on rocky coasts and offshore islands. They can swim to a depth of 60 metres to catch their prey, most commonly lesser sandeel, sprat herring. The extraordinary scene was captured by photographer Callum Dixon (38) from Newcastle, UK. The images were taken using a Canon R5 camera with a 100-500mm lens. “It was amazing to get these pictures and see this moment for the first time,” said Callum. “Two puffins having a little scuffle.” Puffins are known for their colourful beaks and playful nature, but to witness them fighting and then quickly reconciling was a first for the photographer. “No, this isn’t a typical sight," said Callum. The unique personalities of these birds come to life through Dixon's lens, offering a rare moment of nature's unexpected drama and tenderness. ENDS
