KYIV, UKRAINE - FEBRUARY 12, 2025 - A visitor looks at showpieces during the presentation of the Universe of Love, the first retrospective exhibition of Ukrainian visual artist and fashion designer Liubov Panchenko, at the Museum of the History of Kyiv, capital of Ukraine. The artist belonged to the Sixtiers, a group of artists in the 1960s who revived Ukrainian culture during the Khrushchev Thaw. During the occupation of Bucha by Russian forces at the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Liubov Panchenko was forced to remain inside her house for a month without food. She was admitted to the hospital in Kyiv after Russian troops left Bucha, but the artist never recovered and died on April 30, 2022, aged 84. (Photo by Kirill Chubotin/Ukrinform)
