(NYT31) BIG BEAR LAKE, Calif. -- Oct. 30, 2003 -- CALIF-SCENE -- The Honey Bear Lodge, on the edge of Big Bear Lake, Calif., is still open, despite wildfires because, Michael Beveridge, refused to leave his lakeside lodge. John and Carmen Peoples, who were evacuated on Sunday from their home on the west side of Lake Arrowhead, are staying at the Honey Bear Lodge, with their four dogs and a cat.
