MUGLA, TURKIYE - SEPTEMBER 28: An aerial view of remnants of ancient salt production site after waters receded from Iztuzu Beach in Ortaca district of Mugla, Turkiye on September 28, 2023. 2,000-year-old salt field used as a salt facility came to light. The archaeological team extensively investigated the site, which was uncovered in 2005 during the excavation of the Ancient City of Kaunos, an inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List. The salt formations within the salt pans at the facility provided compelling evidence that it has maintained its operational status uninterrupted through the ages.
