EXCLUSIVE: NO NY POST Struggling mum with three disabled children reveals she hasn't left the house more than THREE TIMES since lockdown first started // A mum-of-three has opened up about her struggle in lockdown ??" having only left the house three times since the coronavirus outbreak began in March 2020. Lynsey Fulcher, 42, is mum to three disabled children; George, nine, Matthew, seven, and William, six, whom she shares with fianc??, Andrew Basham, 41. The family live in County Durham and all three of the boys suffer from an array of medical conditions including autism, sensory processing disorder, hypermobility and mental impairment. Both Lynsey and Andrew have given up their former well-paid jobs to become full-time carers to their sons ??" and are homeschooling all three kids in lockdown. Pre Covid-19, William and George attended a special needs school, while Matthew was in a mainstream school. But during the first two lockdowns, none of the boys have been able to go to school, with Lynsey forced to teach them from home. Thankfully, in the past month, George and William have been able to attend school two days per week ??" but are otherwise taught by their mum. Due to their medical conditions, the children are all at high risk of catching the virus, meaning they have barely left the house in the past year ??" and neither has their mum. "Before Covid, I had a lot of responsibility looking after my children," Lynsey told Jam Press. "Even just taking the three of them to park was a military operation as they always needed help and we don't get much support from family and friends ??" but we would still do it often. "When the virus hit, Andrew and I both made the decision not to take the kids out as they can't risk it, their immune system is already compromised. "As a family, the lockdown has impacted the children so much. "Not being in school for almost a year, they were already behind academically, mentally and physically but it has put a massive strain on us all being stuck in the house all the time and trying to keep them occupied. ??sI have no experience in teaching, so I just try to do the best I can but there are some days when I barely get a chance to eat as I am so busy. "My mental health has suffered quite a lot. It's hard to get out of bed some day but I have to for my kids, I cry a lot to be honest as its a very stressful time, I don't eat or sleep much. "I'm scared to go out too now, no one seems to be sticking to the rules like we have and it's so worrying! ??sMy partner and I have also fought more, as we are very stressed at home with all three kids and zero breaks.??? Lynsey herself has also battled with deadly pneumonia in the past, which nearly claimed her life, and so is concerned that she may be at high risk of catching Covid. She said: "Since March, I have left the house just three times. "I went out once in June as it was Andrew's birthday and Father's Day, so I went to my local shop to try and get him something but it was quite stressful and nerve-racking and I had a bit of an anxiety attack. ??sThe kids and I also went to a socially distanced Christmas event and visited Andrew's parents on Christmas Day.??? Other than these three occasions, Lynsey has not left the house and the kids have missed out on important and much-needed therapies. Her husband only leaves the home to run important errands such as food shopping and to pick up medical supplies but will consistently wear a mask, spray himself with disinfectant and wash his hands multiple times. After quitting their jobs, the couple were initially forced to claim Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA) and now receive a carer's allowance. Lockdown has meant an increase in their internet, gas and electric bills and the three boys have been forced to share just one laptop between them while learning from home. They rely on food parcels but Lynsey says they have not been of much help as there isn't much in them that her children can eat, due to having so-called 'sensory diets'. She said: "I understand why lockdown restrictions are in place but it's still hard and I'm looking forward to them being eased so the kids can have some kind of normal life again. ??sSometimes I feel like I'm going stir crazy, it's hard and I'm knackered and homeschooling is difficult, it's taken a lot out of me.??? The family is now struggling financially but has been fortunate to receive help from Fair for You, a not-for-profit online lending company, to buy essential items. The mum said: "Because of them, I was able to buy George an orthopaedic mattress, which he desperately needed. ??sOur washing machine broke so we were also only able to get that replaced because of them and they also gave me a Christmas shopping card which was the only way we were able to give our children Christmas presents last year.???
