The UNIAN Archive. The third power unit of the Chernobyl Atomic Power Station. On Wednesday, February 2 after the finishing of the extraordinary repair the work on the third power unit was renewed, informed the UNIAN agency in the Information Center of the Ukrainian Nuclear Regulating State Administration. The unit was stopped on January 29, to eliminate the defects on the one of the chief safety valves. At 7.05p.m. the first electric generator of the third unit was connected up with the Ukrainian energy system, at 1.16 p.m., on Wednesday - the second one. In accordance with the scheduled inspection and maintenance, the gradual increase of the unit power is carried out, the energy output reached the nominal level. For the present the repair is carried out on the three atomic power units: on the Zaporozhsky APS - first unit, on the Rovensky APS - the third one and on the Yuzhny-Ukrainisky APS - the second one
