Mandatory Credit: Photo by Marwan Naamani/ZUMA Press Wire/Shutterstock (15281815a) A picture taken 30 April shows a self-portrait of Hussein, a pro-Iranian Hezbollah militant who lost vision in his eyes and also lost several fingers during the infamous Israeli pager attacks amid the Israeli war against the Hezbollah in the autumn of 2024, inked on his arm by Beirut based tattoo artist Hussein Jawad. Hussein wanted the tattoo on his arm as a symbol of resilience. For him, it serves as a constant reminder and a way to commemorate the traumatic event. The business of tattoo thrived among Muslim Shiites following the bloody war that eventually led to the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Jawad said many young people, mainly Shiites, ask for tattoos of Sayed Nasrallah. Most of them aren't militantsÃĘâŹ"they do it out of love and respect. But more importantly, it's about the feeling of loneliness. "They saw Nasrallah as a father figure, a hero, and a protector. Now that he's gone, they want him with them always. And what better way than a tattoo?", He said. A Tattoo Of Resilience: Marking Loss And Loyalty Amid War, Beirut, Lebanon - 30 Apr 2025
