The shark was 52-foot deep in the ocean. PAO REEF, MOZAMBIQUE: A BRITISH photographer has captured the moment a diver rescued a five-foot long shark from a SIX-HUNDRED-AND-FIFTY-FOOT long net. A heart-stopping image revealed the desperate attempt to free a lifeless looking dusky shark with netting trapped over its eyes and body. Another unsettling image showed a rotting zebra seabream fish which unfortunately died in the same netting as the young adult shark, trapped inside the eight-inch hole of the monofilament gill net. Love The Oceans organisation founder, Francesca Trotman (27), from South Oxfordshire, UK shot the rescue in Pao Reef, Mozambique, at a depth of 52 feet. Francesca founded her marine conservation non-profit while still at the University of Southampton in 2014. She spends most of her time working in Jangamo Bay, Mozambique working towards a healthier ocean. Francesca used a Nikon D7100 with an Aquatica digital housing kit to record the 30-minute rescue. Dusky sharks are endangered according to The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species.
