Ranczerzy z Patagonii - Redux
Cowboys across the globe have specific names to describe their particular line of work. "Buckaroos" work in the American West, "vaqueros" ride in Mexico, and "gauchos" handle livestock in Argentina. Southern Chilean cowboys are called "baqueanos," or literally, "knower of a place." The term describes the ability of these cowboys to navigate the difficult terrain of the region that can include, amongst other difficulties, hidden peat bogs and glacial river crossings while searching for missing livestock. It is essential that these cowboys know their region well in order to work is such adverse conditions. Here a baqueano work on foot while sorting cattle for summer branding.
