Ranczerzy z Patagonii - Redux
Similar to the North American rodeo, a "jineteada" is an opportunity for cowboys to demonstrate their skills riding difficult and untrained horses. Traditionally, these skills were essential for the baqueanos who broke and trained the horses used by the ranching companies who colonized Southern Chile. Today, jineteadas are a popular summer event in the region, drawing weekend spectators. A baqueano leads one of the unbroken rodeo horses by passing the lead rope through a ring attached to his saddle to that if the rodeo horse was to pull and try and run away, he will be able to stop it easily by using the strength of his well-trained ranch horse.
