Crystal Palace Park.
The sculpture on this island include the only representations of true dinosaurs seen at Crystal Palace. Scientists have classified Hylaeosaurus, Iguanodon and Megalosaurus, while the other animals on this site belong to other scientific groups.
MEGALOSAURUS: This colossal reptile roamed Oxfordshire and Gloucestershire about 166 million years ago. Its reconstruction stands in front of a fossilised that dates from the same period.
Megalosaurus (meaning ‘giant lizard’) was the firs dinosaur to be described in a scientific way.
