A futuristic floating museum is set to visit major cities around the world, highlighting the impacts of climate change.
Inspired by Venice's relationship with glass and water, the Italian design studio Luca Curci Architects has created the Floating Glass Museum. The venture features state-of-the-art design combined with sustainable practices to chronicle the history of glass.
The museum was designed in collaboration with Giulia Tassi Design firm and assisted by artificial intelligence.
Luca Curci recently unveiled striking images of the floating museum, with plans to bring the concept to life in the near future.
This is “a groundbreaking project where the boundaries between art and nature blur and the water becomes a canvas for contemporary expression,” the company mentioned in the press release.
“Floating Glass Museum represents a global initiative, a symbol of environmental awareness, a unique space where art, nature, and tradition converge: the balanced fusion of contemporary art and sustainable design that will invite contemplation, reflection, and discovery,” the firm noted.
The beautiful renderings show the museum floating like an island with expansive glass windows that illuminate from within. Upon entering, the interior offers vast open spaces perfect for inventive glass displays. Clean lines and white walls create a pristine backdrop, allowing the artwork to stand out and the glass to assume the central focus.
Currently at the conceptual stage, the project will be exhibited in various cities impacted by climate change, including Dubai, New York, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Busan. Upon completion, the museum will span approximately 3,800 square metres (41,000 square feet).
