The owner of a Victorian terrace house in Plymouth Having pinpointed the precise area where they wanted to live in Devon, this couple patiently bided their time until just the right property cropped up. After viewing the 'time-warp' Victorian house, this hard-working, creative pair were totally unfazed by its dowdy, tired decor and could only see opportunities to lovingly restore the property. Even before receiving the keys, Paul removed all the carpets and painstakingly sanded the floorboards. Meanwhile, Pauline pulled down the curtains and became something of a time-traveller, peeling back layer after layer of wallpaper. Over the next eight years, this blank canvas property has been reconfigured. It's gradually become a beautiful and much-loved home that's jam-packed with cherished pieces, including many finds from antiques shops and auctions. The pair really have put their hearts and souls into this project and there's no doubt that Paul's DIY skills and Pauline's eye for colour and style are a winning combination. Pauline says: 'Our home has gradually evolved. By doing virtually everything ourselves, its taken time but we deliberately haven't rushed. It has been an incredibly rewarding journey and one that we're still thoroughly enjoying.'
