Three generations of the Csosz-Horvath family watch a slide film screening in their home on February 21, 2024, as the Hungarian 'Diafilmgyarto' celebrates its 70th anniversary with various events including monthly screenings of slide films at a Budapest cinema attracting dozens of children and nostalgic adults. A century-old storytelling medium, its Hungarian producer has seen a resurgence in demand for filmstrips since the 2000s as enthusiasts appreciate the chance for slower, more intimate storytelling in the age of increasingly fast-paced entertainment. Filmstrips -- sometimes called slide films -- are printed on rolls of film, but unlike traditional movies, images can be shown for any amount of time, and are not meant to create the illusion of motion.
