QUEEN TURNS COMMUTER AND CATCHES TRAIN TO SANDRINGHAM
Departing for her Christmas break today (17 Dec) the Queen joined a queue of everyday travellers and hopped on a train to Norfolk.
The Monarch will spend the festive period with the Duke of Edinburgh at her private Sandringham estate, where they will be joined by other members of the Royal Family.
Today, she departed from London's busy Kings Cross station enroute to King's Lynn with little ceremony or fuss, even going unnoticed by many passing commuters.
Arriving ten minutes before the First Capital Connect train was due to depart, she settled down in a window seat in the first class compartment.
With the Duke already at Sandringham, the Queen was accompanied by a royal protection officer.
The 95-minute journey costs GBP 44.40 for a first class ticket and GBP 27.70 for a standard seat.
Upon arriving at King's Lynn the Queen then continued her journey to Sandringham by car.
The Queen has the royal train at her disposal but she has used other scheduled services in the past.
