Eleanor Holm, showman Billy Rose's estranged wife who had just arrived by plane in New York from Florida, is shown at the door of the Rose home, on fashionable Beekman Place, that she demanded she be allowed to enter, Sept. 28, 1952. Her attempt to regain possession of the home she had been living since her separation from Rose met with failure as she was barred by her husband's attorney and three private detectives. Rose, accompanied by six private detectives, smashed the lock on the door the night before, announcing he was there "permanently." He claimed that 90 percent of the art treasures in his home were missing. Miss Holm and her lawyer argued for about 15 minutes. (AP Photo/Marty Lederhandler)
