AP Historical Hard Drive 2009
Basketball great Magic Johnson, surrounded by the staff of Diane Setchen's (left) Fancy that staff, partied at Dr. J's unique Sweet 16 bash in 1987. Julius Erving, after 16 years of a remarkable career in pro-basketball, laid down his sneakers at the end of this past season. Magic paid special tribute to Dr. J at a Sweet 16 party the other night that turned into a love-in for the much respected and well-loved sports immortal. Fancy that, a New York-based company that specializes in extraordinary parties, created the event for the Ervings, and designed a sweet 16 cake in the shape on basketball and sneaker. The party, for almost 300 guests, was held at the Four Session Hotel in Philadelphia. (AP Photo)
