A one-place high-performance fighter, built for both the Army and Navy. The navy version, known as the F4B-2, was the forerunner of modern carrier fighters and was the first single-seater fighter capable of executing all fighter maneuvers fully loaded. This series presented the first aircraft to feature bolted dural tubing fuselage and structure, steel tubing having giving way to the lighter dural.
