Old locomotive 592 has now become a museum piece, writing a chapter in the saga of the fast vanishing steam locomotive. The Camelback , # 592 , will take its place in the Baltimore and Ohio transportation museum alongside such famous locomotives as the Atlantic of 1832 , John Hancock , William Mason, Thatcher Perkins and the Tom Thumb . It is a presentation to the B &O from the Jersey central lines where it made history in operation between Philadelphia and New York. Originally built in 1901. It established enviable speed records on several occasions running famous people between the two eastern metropoleis. It was retired from active service on February 16, 1949.
