This is an undated photo of Major Gen. John Hooker on horseback during the American Civil War. Hooker was given command of the Union Army of the Potomac on Jan. 25, 1863. He was commander during the battle of Chancellorsville, Va., in May 1863. Hooker was forced to withdraw his troops after five days of fighting, suffering heavy losses. The battle was one of Robert E. Lee's biggest victories and gave the Confederate army a big morale boost. (AP Photo/Mathew B. Brady)
