Stone House, or Matthews' House, at Bull Run, Va., is shown in 1862 during the American Civil War. Situated at the bottom of the hill where the main battle took place, the house served as an aid post close behind the Union Army line until it was overrun by the Confederates. The Battle of Bull Run, called the Battle of Manassas by the Confederates, was the first major battle, after Fort Sumter, between the Union and the Confederates on July 21, 1861. (AP Photo/George N.
