On the Beach of Pozzallo Osman (19) comes from a poor family of the Gambia. He attended the first years of school, but because of poverty had to start work very early in a farm. But unfortunately the earning in the company was not enough even to his livelihood. These serious economic difficulties did not allow him to marry and start a family. For this reason, Osman decided to leave the Gambia and try his luck in Europe. Reached Libya, after an exhausting journey, he joined his uncles, with whom he started the trip by boat to Sicily. Unfortunately, due to the overcrowding of the boat, 45 people who were at the bottom of the boat, died from asphyxiation. His story is tremendous: "I was at the bottom of the boat but on the opposite side to that of the engine, where there were also my uncles. The air began to be lacking due to overheating of the engine, that began to heat up more and more. The journey began on the night but only in the early hours of the morning, to let in air, they opened the doors on us and made a hole, for air to circulate, in the barrier that separated the area where I was with the one where my uncles were. When we realized that on the side of the engine there was no more air, I was able to put my head through the hole that they had just done, and I've seen that people not breathing. At that moment, knowing that my uncles were on that side, I started to cry and pray. Once arrived the helps, and reached Sicily, a friend told me that my uncles was dead. I did not want to believe him, and so I searched them among the survivors. The terrible list with the names of the 45 deceased has confirmed to me, that my young uncles did not survive". Now that is alone, his desire is to get the documents as soon as possible and leave Italy. The country that he would like to reach is Sweden where would like to work in a supermarket. As soon as reach the necessary sum, he want to return to Gambia to marry his girlfriend who continues to wait for him and come back to
