On the Streets of Pozzallo Osman (22) comes from Gambia. Coming from the city of Serekuna in Gambia, Osman is passionate about books and reading. In his country he studied and worked helping his father sell African objects. Because of extreme poverty, Osman was forced to leave his country and try to reach Europe. He faced the terrible journey from Niger to Libya with a Toyota Pick Up, paying about 700 euro. Because of the faults of the car, the trip lasted for eleven days in which no one has ever been able to eat but only drinking. In Libya remained in total for nine months. As soon as he arrived he started working as cleaner of cars for earn the money to go to Sicily. Once earned enough money he boarded. During the crossing, however, the Libyan navy has intercepted them and firing gunshots, forced the captain to stop and go back. Osman, together with all those who were in the boat, was arrested for attempted illegal immigration. From that moment started his calvary. In prison, has spent the worst period of his life. He was locked up for five months, beaten daily with sticks or guns in the back, under the feet and other parts of the body. After the prison experience, free again, he worked again to pay for the trip by boat. His second trip started from Tripoli harbor and lasted for two days of sailing. On the boat were all frightened: "Only God could save us, it's really crazy, you don't know where the waves will bring us!" Now that he is in Sicily, Osman, would like to go to study and cultivate his passion for reading, in Germany or in Sweden. He does not know if he would do again the trip that brought him in Sicily, but for sure, to an hypothetical friend, would perfectly explain the type of trip and the risks that he would face: "You can survive or die, decide if you want to risk, but at the end only god will know if it was the best choice "
