Kagenyi Healthcare Centre Many women like this one, have become the sole carers of their grandchildren. Their parents have died, often as a result of HIV/AIDS and there is only the grandparents left to support and care for the chidlren left behind. Often in rural communities, however, the child's death is blamed on the parent practising witchcraft and they are marginalised from the community - which can be extremely damaging to the children in their care.
