Over a sweltering weekend, alpacas from Penrhallt Alpacas, Swansea, get their fleeces sheared ready for the Summer months. Alpaca fleece is different to sheep - the structure of the alpaca fibre is hollow, therefore, compared to sheep’s wool, it traps air at a greater volume making it much more thermal. It also doesn’t contain lanolin, which means unlike sheep’s wool, its hypoallergenic.
