A fisherwoman holds a fish that she just caught. Women are well present in the fishing industry in the Azores islands, but only a few venture to the sea. Mostly work on land preparing baits and nets and cleaning or selling fish. Today, there are only five fisherwomen that go into the sea, making them probably the last fisherwomen in the archipelago.
