The female challenged the male bear who blocked the way to the whale carcass. ALASKA, USA: SEE THE moment a male and female brown bear went head-to-head in a tense stand-off over a whale carcass. In one image, the two 700-pound Kodiak brown bears appeared to snarl at each other as they kicked up dust in their attempts to swipe at their opponent. In another, the female bear conceded ? running away and leaving the male to his tasty surprise. The incredible photographs of the brawl were captured by police officer and photographer Shane Parker (41) from Alaska, USA, in the state?s Halo Bay area. Shane stood just 150 feet away as the two Kodiak brown bears went head-to-head in vicious stand-off. Shane used a Nikon Z6 camera and a Tamron 150mm ? 600mm G2 lens to capture the stunning images. Adult brown bears are solitary animals and spend up to 16 hours a day searching for food. Alaska is home to the world?s largest brown bears which can grow up to eight feet long.
