Luluka and her cub walked side by side before the attack. MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE, KENYA: SEE THE moment a leopardess and lioness went head to head in a RARE big cat fight. In one image, the 400-pound lioness snuck up on the unsuspecting leopard after she?d been stalking it through the grass for quite some time. In another, the 140-pound leopardess turned around just in time to notice her would-be attacker and launched herself at the lioness ? turning the tables as she held her arms and claws outstretched wide. The rare altercation was witnessed by photographer Nili Gudhka (29) from Nairobi, Kenya, whilst she was in the country?s Masai Mara National Reserve. Nili stood just 16 away as the two big cats went head-to-head in a two-minute long face off. The cheetah is known locally as Luluka. Nili captured the images using a Nikon D850 camera and a Nikon 200-500mm F5.6 lens. Although it?s rare to see, lions have been known to hunt leopards.
