On April 15, 2021 Wroblewski was appointed by Sejm (lower house of Polish parliament) as a new human rights ombudsman. His candidacy now has to be approved by Senate (upper house), where opposition has the majority. This was a second attempt to designate a human rights ombudsman, after the term of a previous one expired in September 2020.
