Pictured: James Freeman, Chairman of The Friends of King Alfred Buses polishes the wing mirror of a red 1964 AEC Renown vintage bus no. 596, sandwiched between a green 1950 Leyland Olympic no. 708 and a 1959 Leyland Tiger no. 104 at the bus depot near Romsey, Hants during what would typically be a busy period leading up to the King Alfred Buses Running Day event, which has been cancelled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. ?The annual event, usually held in May sees 20 heritage buses from as early as the 1950s providing free services through the city of Winchester and surrounding villages. The Friends of King Alfred Buses have taken the decision to cancel this years event, citing the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and the uncertainty around what kind of public events are permissible in the next few months.
