THIS PICTURE: Feb 2021: The Ducks have returned to nest. ... STORY CAPTION: A London mother has had some amazing returning visitors to her seventh-floor balcony: mum and dad ducks. Jeanne Kolerski-McKechnie found a female duck nesting in one of her plant pots last year. Before long the bird had laid eggs, and a brood of ducklings were hatched. Now, she back and being watched over by her male companion. As of Friday (26 Feb), four eggs have been laid. Jeanne explained: ??sDuring the first lockdown back in March, a duck decided to nest on my balcony. Today (24 Feb), one year later, she is back!" Nicknaming the mother duck Carmen, Jeanne added: ??sThis time around, her birth partner is here with her.??? On Thursday, Jeanne said: ??sBoth the male and female are back every morning. He is on the lookout while she lays her egg. Third egg this morning. What makes this story extraordinary is the location. We live on the 7th floor, in the dense urban area at the edge of the Olympic park.??? "We had a fourth one this morning,??? Jeanne added on Friday (26 Feb). Last year, Jeanne and family had to corral the ducklings down to a local stream themselves after lockdown prevented animal rescue services from being able to help.
