This undated photograph shows the camp site for the Chinese crew and construction train when building of the first trancontinetal railroad was being speeded across the state of Nevada by the Central Pacific, later named the Southern Pacific. The pacific coast did not have sufficient labor for the railroad job, and as a result about 10,000 Chinese men were brought to America to do the work. The construction bosses and engineers lived in the outfit cars on the trains that were placed into improvised sidings as the work progressed. (AP Photo)
